Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has got or had this problem, where your computer only locks up randomly during gameplay. Its really buggin me. My Pc Is fine when word prossesing or on the net or video editing. But when it comes to games i can be playings for about 45mins without a lockup or 30 seconds. I've been searching around and this seems to be a commen problem, but have not found a solution yet. I wondered if you guys would know of a soultion. My Specs are below.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Do you have any temp monitoring? Do the lockups happen close to the same areas during gameplay. All games, or only one?
There are a number of services that can be turned off in WinXP that are not necessary. I'll have to search for the BlackViper info and drop the link for you...perhaps someone will beat me to it. ;)

Cheers,
It happens in all Games (The ones i play the most are GTA San Andreas, Fifa 07, Fifa 06 and Ford Racing 3).
Yes I Do Have temp monitoring and everything seems ok for my Components, Idle and Just come out of gaming.
The Lockups happen completely at random.
Cheers for you help.

Just an Update on my Locking up situation.
My PC Just Crashed whilst browsing the internet, so it looks like its not crashing only in games. It looks like it is crashing at random at any time.
Thanks For Your Help.

What are the specs on your power supply?
Check that the fan is working on the power supply and the video card.
Did the crashing start after you upgraded your video card? Any other hardware or software changes recently?
Can you swap in the old video card to see if the crashing still happens?
Take a close look at the capacitors on your mobo to make sure there are none that are leaking or bulging. They should be flat on top and clean with no discoloration.
Run Memtest (http://www.memtest86.com/#download0).

Yes, indeed, run memtest86... And, I would suggest running the harddrive diagnostics...these can be downloaded from the harddrive manufacturer's website.

Hi,
My Power Supply is a 550w
All my Fans Are working
The Crashing happend on my other Graphics Card Aswell
And I still have to look for faulty capacitors and run memtest
Also nothing appears in my Event Viewer about it either.
Cheers
Without anything showing up in the Event Log, I'd be more inclined to say a power supply problem.
Driver/heat problems tend to cause errors that are recorded in the EL, but power problems just happen, with no other errors being generated. Capacitors can do the same...

Ok,
Just had another crash but this time i got two different error messages in my event log.
1. Type: Error
Event ID: 7026
Source: Service Control Manager
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
PfModNT
2. Type: Error
Event ID: 7000
Source: Service Control Manager
The PfModNT service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
Thaks For Your Help:)
PfModNT is part of the Audigy drivers...try updating the sound drviers.
But, that doesn't really seem to be the core of the problem. It is acting more like a hardware problem than a software/driver problem.

But I no longer have any creative drivers on my pc. I uninstlled them when i took out my soundblaster live.
