Cyrix was the **** back in the day when they were fabless, then National Semiconductor bought them, plowed them into the grownd, and then VIA aquired Cyrix, and the MII team was all but gone.... Do you think they will ever bring the Cyrix name back?, i know VIA tried with the C3 processor but have since stoped...:(
Actually, there are few Cyrix/Via processors being produced, mainly for use in embedded applications.

but the question remains, will Cyrix ever become its own company again, like Commodore, Atari, and Amiga did?

It is currently a 'name' owned by Yeahronimo Media Ventures
Amiga is owned by Amiga, Inc, the former KMOS...
Nope, they aren't their 'own' companies any more, even though the 'name' has been resurrected.
