View Full Version : Unable to retrieve software info

I just installed Linux Fedora and I'm trying to download KDE (I'm currently using GNOME) So, when I navigate Applications> Add/Remove Software, I am seeing an error message: Unable to retrieve software information. This could be caused by not having a network connection available. The strange thing is I am able to connect to the internet and to this forum. The firewall is turned off, the network adapter is active. What steps should I take to correct this problem?
Please help.

Usually, you'll need configure or at least enable which servers you are going to pull your updates from. Also you may need to have it check/confirm what is installed, first.

Hey Fitz,

Read up on Yum. It's a wonderful tool for installing, updating, removing software. Yum is a commandline tool. Yumex (written in Python) is the GUI version of it.
