I am moving this to Applications & Security forum.
AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy are still valid programs. AVG Ewido is another valid program with a free trial. SpywareBlaster is a good prevention tool, not a removal tool.
See the sticky at the top of the A&S forum for applications to remove malware.

How do you connect to the Internet?
Do you use a router with a hardware firewall?
Do you use a software firewall?
Did you modify your Windows security settings or leave at default?

We help members with Dell PCs as well as others.
:)

I would suggest downloading HiJackThis and posting a log if you feel the PC is running slower than expected, at least we could see if malware or security programs are causing the slowdown.

We recommend tightening the security settings in Windows to prevent malware installation, also updating JVM to the latest Java Runtime Environment is helpful to prevention of certain infections.

This is the speech I give to people when their systems seem to be clean... I particularly think the article may be helpful to you...

Here is my prevention speech to help avoid future infection:

This is a good time to set up protection against further attacks. Read the article linked below about "How did I
get infected". You need an antivirus that is updated, a good firewall (a router firewall is not enough) and a
spyware blocker like SpywareBlaster and also IE-Spyads. All of these have good free versions available... be very
cautious about any security software that advertises in popups or other intrusive ways, they are not only usually
useless, but also often have malware in them....
