Last night I was using IE6, and downloaded IE7.
The download and installation proceeded, including a Norton Internet Security message about GBLC.tmp (or GLBC?) trying to access the internet. Norton recommended that I allow it.
After restarting my machine, I found that:
1. If I log in to AOL (my ISP), it throws me out after a short while and then tries to log me back in but fails, saying that it doesn't know why.
2. Norton seems to have stopped working to some extent (eg if I try to run a scan, nothing seems to happen). Sometimes it just says that there is a problem and it closes down.
I tried to do a system restore (having turned off Norton), but it failed.
I then uninstalled IE7, which succeeded, but I still have the problems with AOL and Norton.
I then used IE6 to go to the Symantec site (I have a wireless router, so I did not need to log in to AOL). I tried the online internet connection repair tool, but it does not seem to do anything, and after a while Norton closed itself down on my machine.
Can anyone suggest how I put things right?
