I a very unfamilliar with anything to do with upgrading a PC. I received the computer that I am using as a gift. I want to know what the maximum hard ware configiration would be for a Celeron 433 MHZ. I wanted to get a larger hard drive, but didn't know if this processor would be enough. The system max on RAM is 256 MB.

You can use a 100 GB hard drive with a 90 mhz pentium, if the bios supports hard drives of that size. There's hardly any processor involvement involved other than telling the drive to relay the files it needs to the RAM.
As hard drives get bigger, the bios (that's what sets up communication between all the components in your PC) needs to be able to handle bigger numbers when asking for information. It's kinda like a shop that has 3 digit part numbers and after a few years they've got more than 999 parts - they've got to re-vamp their inventory system.
I want to say the 8 GB barrier was crossed about 5 years ago, and the 32 GB barrier about 2 years ago, but I'm not sure. Check your motherboard manufacturer's website to see if you need a bios upgrade, but in all likelihood you're prolly fine up to at least 32GB.

uhmmm. ya check to see what you BIOS supports. I think that the BIOS brand name and model comes up on the BLACK screen when you first start your computer and you can check with the BIOS manufacturer to see what is the biggest harddrive your BIOS can support. I have an ASUS motherboard with a 350Mhz CPU but the BIOS on that board is kinda old and it only supports a harddrive of 20GB. good luck with your comp http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
