Alright, I'm a newbie so bare with me. I'm currently researching Raid for the new server we are purchasing for my company. I'm having a hard time deciphering performance considerations with the different Raid controller cards. Every manufacturer seems to have several different options. For example, Dell lists:
-Perc3/di dual channel, 128MB Cache with the following options
(2-Int Channels)
(1-Int/1-Ext Channel)
(2-Ext Channels)
OR
-Perc3/di Quad Channel with
(2-Int/2-Ext Channel)
(1-Int/3-Ext Channel)
(4-Ext Channels)
IBM lists
-ServeRaid-4H, ServeRaid-4lx or ServeRaid-4mx Ultra 160 Scsi controller

Does anyone know where I can go to learn more about Raid controllers?
Thanks for any insight given.

I know the ext and int is external drives and internal drives. If you have one external the you can have a max of 2 drives if yoiu have 1 internal drives you can have a max of 2 drives. So that totals up as four drives in all. And of course raid scsi ultra 160 means a transfer rate of 160MB , theroically.
