Hi

I have put together a new Intel BOXDG965WHMKR with the E6700 2.66G processor, all seemed to go well except the sound does not work. It looks ok as far as I can see in the hardware manager except I have 1 unknown device it is listed as "PCI Bus 0 Device 27 Function 0" and when I go into the bios and turn od the onboard sound the goes away so I know it has something to do with it. I have looked on Intels site and found no help there.

Please help if you can.

THANKS!
Randy

If you're using an onboard sound adapter that's enabled in BIOS, then make sure the MB chipset drivers are installed.

It origionally when through the Intel driver CD and auto installed all it could but at the end it had a red X over the Sound Driver. I downloaded the latest one from Intel but I had the same out come. It is the onboard Intel sound by Sigmatel. Thanks for ANY help.

So you're saying that the onboard sound adapter is enabled in BIOS, and there is no PCI sound card installed?

Yes, the onboard sound is all that is being used it is enabled in the Bios and the only PCI card is a SATA 2 Adaptec.

Thanks

If Device Manager shows a red X even after the latest driver, then the problem is obvious. You got a bad mobo! RMA it.

Yep, that appears to be the cause.
