Hi,

I have lately been getting a lot of random crashes on my pc. I have been getting two error messages in my event viewer:-

1. Type: Error
Event ID: 7026
Source: Service Control Manager

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
PfModNT

2. Type: Error
Event ID: 7000
Source: Service Control Manager

The PfModNT service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

I have managed to solve the second error by the required files into C:/windows/system32/drivers. But i cant solve the second error. I have tried deleting the regestry entry for it and un-installed it by right clicking on it in the device manager. I have no need for this pfmodnt as i dont have any creative hardware in my pc. I used to have a soundblaster live! But i have uninstalled that.

I was hoping that someone would know a solution to this problem as it is getting really anoying.

Thanks!

See if this suggestion from another forum helps:

"The work around for that is to go into Device Manager and view all hidden devices there. Now look over Non-PnP-Drivers (Non Plug and Play Drivers). Two errors should be visible here. One at "PfDetNT" and the other at "PfModNT". With the right mouse button select "properties" and change then the startup type of PfModNT to "System" and the startup type of PFDetNT to "On Demand". Then, reboot the system."

Yer thanks for you suggestion but i dont have PfDetNT in my device manager but i have tried changing the pfmodnt option to system but that didnt work.

I no longer have in appearing in my device manager as i have un-installed it.

Just to clarify the is the error i am getting at the moment, not the other one.

Type: Error
Event ID: 7026
Source: Service Control Manager

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
PfModNT

I cant find anything on the net about this error.

Thanks For Your Help:)
