Based on some previous posts from you all I am gettign ready to price and possibly build a new system. I will be using some of the current components of my computer if possible.

My question is what should I plan on buying? I am planning to use the following from my current system:
Hard Drives (16Gb space with only about 7 or so full)
DVD/CD drive
CDRW Drive
3 1/2 floppy (still run into a need some times)
Monitor
Printer
Speakers (maybe)

Is there anything else I could possibly use?
BTW this is a gateway system so I assuming that the case is proprietary and would not be feasable to use.

I want to reasearch this as much as possible but I'm truthfully not sure what items I ned to research.

I know this much.
MoBo
Processor (Athlon probably)
Case (don't the power supply and fan sually coem with the case)
Video Card
Sound Card

Thanks again to everyone for their help.

Hi Scott...

Research what you have listed there and give some thought
about what type of memory you will need for the new Mboard.

Yes, a new case can be purchased w/new PSU and rear case fan.
Or a bare case and you add the PSU of your choice, etc. If you
like the looks of your present case go ahead and use it. The
PSU is probably only 250W tho and a guy needs to improve on that.

You are getting off to a good start with some prior planning.

Good Luck.

Hi Scottypup
I would get a DDR Mobo for Athlon thunderbird.
There are new boards there now with RAID, 133ATA, 266FSB, USB2.0... these are some options.
You can use an ATX case (maybe your old one) with a 2nd fan below the PSU andfacing the CPU.
Get a decent PSU 350W and with 2 fans, one below and one behind... Enermax is good
Sound card ... SBLive 5.1 Platinum
Video card ... I'd wait a bit as the prices of the GeForce 2 and 3 should fall soon with the intro of GeForce 4!
Also a decent HSF. Very inportant.
