i need help i dont know what happened i tryed to recovery my harddrive and it said i need to reinstall windowsroot\system32\hal.dll but i get get into the hard drive to reinstall it :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

Please give some more SPECIFIC details about what happened or what you did and what hardware you have installed, which Operating System and how this message appears. The more details then the easier it becomes for us to help you.

ok well see i got this computer from my sister and it needed a ned cd drive so i bought one and it worked for a while then it stopped and no wont load past the windows where it ask to start window norm. start windows in safe mode or start with last know configure that worked well it wont load past there so i go to recovery the hard drive and when its done it saids its missing that file and needs to be replaced..

Can you confirm that you can load windows in safe mode or last known good?
Are you running Windows XP or Windows 2000 or ???

it wont let me load in any form it frezzes up i am using xp thank you

Do you have an installation CD and can you boot to it. If you can watch out for a message to press any key to boot to the CD, which will only happen if the CDROM is chosen as the first boot device in the BIOS setup. Once you can boot to the installation CD you should be able to try and repair the boot files by running fixboot and bootcfg /rebuild from the recovery console or do a full repair installation (http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm).
