Hi,
I have a perfectly good computer except that I need a CD writer for it. A couple of vendors have told me that my CPU isn't fast enough for any CD writer that I can buy now, so I want to post here, just to make sure.
I don't know much about CD writers, but can I not write at 1x or 2x even if the writer is rated at 24x or whatever? Also, I don't wish to copy from one CD to another- I will only be burning files from my hard disk. And I really don't care how long it takes- I won't even use it that often! I'm not looking for performance, as long as it works. I'd prefer a newer writer, though, so if I get a new system, I can transfer it over.
Okay, so here's my computer. I have 1 5 1/4" bay still open.
Acer Aspire
166 MHz AMD-k6 MMX
256kb pipeline burst L2 cache
power supply:100W switchable
13 GB hardrive
20x CD-ROM.
And I have 80 MB of EDO Ram, but I can go up to 125 MB if that will allow me to use a newer writer.
Thank you for helping me!
