Trojan ?

I have this one program that reads the passwords from this instant messenger. It works perfectly, but everytime I scan my pc with Symantec AntiVirus this program shows up as a trojan. Could this one program realy be a trojan? I used it for some time and did not see any problems with my computer (Win XP Pro).

Also Windows defender does not flag it as any dangerous softwere.

Certain 'tools' are labeled 'viral' by some AV companies, not because they are, but rather what they can be used for.

Yes, these are legit tools, and are often used by admins and 'power users', but they aren't exactly something that most people would have on their computers. In the 'wrong' hands, these tools can be used to initiate all sorts of mayhem...

Its funny that I have another tool like the one previously mentioned which reads the Windows Serial number and it is not detected by Symantec.

I don't believe there is any way that knowing the serial number could be used against you... Knowing your passwords on the other hand.... :eek: :eek:
