Would it be smart to buy this OEM version of XP now...just for the upgrade coupon?

Would it be the right Vista version for gamers (with all the happy little aero-glass stuff?;) ) and 64-bit?

I don't think it is a free upgrade. I think it basically just means you will qualify for the upgrade to Home Pro or Home Basic once Vista comes out. From what I see you still are paying a decent amount for the upgrade ($49 to Basic or $79 to Home Pro).

Home Pro should have all the features you need though.

Just wait for Vista to come out. If you upgrade from a version of WinXP, you'll be limited in which version of Vista you can upgrade to. Besides, only the Vista Ultimate Premium Deluxe Platinum :p version is going to cost hundreds of dollars.

Home Basic is the rough equivalent of WinXP Home. Home Premium = WinXP Pro. I've been using WinXP Pro, so naturally I'd prefer Home Premium. I'd suggest that if you can afford the extra cash.

Are you sure? I thought I read somewhere that Home Pro wouldn't be able to join domains like XP Pro. Which would mean the Business would be closer to Pro from my point of vew.
