View Full Version : celeron vs. pentium II

Hello,

Just a quick question. I'm running a 366 celeron (slot1), and have been quite happy with it. My brother gave me a 333 pentium II, and he thinks I should replace the celeron with it. I thought the only difference between these two processors was the size of the L2 cache.

Would the pentium II be much of an improvement, considering its clock speed is slower?

Thank You
CJ

I think the P2 might perform a little better despite the lower clock speed...

Try using wcpuid by h. oda to see how much cache your celeron has and what speed it runs at...if it has 128K of full speed cache it may run a tiny bit faster than the P2...if it has no l2 cache (which I don't think is the case) the P2 will be faster...

Although, in any case, you probably wouldn't notice a difference between the two unless you run a benchmarking program...
