Well, the time has come. The current monitor I have (that I saved from the dumpster) is beginning to see the end. The color flickers from time to time and it seems to be getting worse. Also there's a short in the monitor cable somewhere and I don't know how to deal with it. Anyway, christmas is coming up, and I figured it would be good to see if I could get the extended family to chip together and get me a new (at least for me) monitor. I don't expect anything expensive (preferably below $400), but it has always been my dream to get a CRT monitor capable of 2048x1536. Is this possible? I see a total of one being sold on newegg, and I can't seem to find any more. I know the trend has been towards LCD, but I'm a gamer and prefer better video quality. I just broke the screen on my laptop a few weeks ago, and I never want to see LCD again. The bigger, the better- I'm a big guy, and so lugging around a big, heavy monitor is my style. Is there any place I should look to find one, or is it hopeless?

I did not see any with that resolution but did see a NEC 22 inch CRT at Newegg for about $800 at 1600x1200:

I was hoping for something used, therefore cheaper. I know that they exist because I've seen them. I don't know if they're still making them, but I've always wanted one.

Same one as my link, hope mine works. It is out of production, so when supply is gone it is gone.

How about a 21" Sony Trinitron flatscreen .24mm dotpitch?

I found it by googling "used crt 2048x1536 monitor".
Happy Hunting! :)
