im having second thoughts of whether buying a regular cdrw or a combo?same speed burn proof also.but im wondering if a combo is less stable or performs less than a regular cdrw.ex the lg drives
hmmm...as far as I know there haven't been many stability problems with the drives, the software maybe (not all the burning programs currently support the combo drives, but I saw that Nero has added a bunch of the combo drives with the last update....). I don't really see why there should any difference in perfomance either...

I've never seen any problems with them...only thing I don't really like about them is that since you're using one drive for everything it seems they would wear out sooner...
In any event, I would recommend having a regular cdrom in addition to the combo drive for installing programs, etc...to save wear and tear on your dvd/cdrw

I don't like them. It's just another form of proprietary hardware in my opinion.
