PROBLEM: Twisted cable with Linksys switch, Host computer is using Windows XP Home and Guest computer is using Windows 2000 Professional isn't talking although both show they are connected and a ping varifies.

What is missing in the configuration to make Windows 2000 work with Windows XP Home Edition?

Everytime I disconnect one of the computers on the LAN this problem occurs. What can I try?

Thanks,
Al

What are you trying to do, pull some files off a shared folder on the XP machine to the 2000 computer?

Firewall enabled on either?
Shared folders are available?
Can you get to the other computer by typing the IP address in the address bar? (Open up My computer and type in \\192.168.1.100 for example)

enable the Guest account on the Windows 2000 machine.
