That happens for example, when you do have a network and in the network options also installed "file and printer sharing" - and your drives are accessible through the network.
If you now log on that computer via the network to share files, printers etc., you always get this message. If you don't do that, someone else might try to access your laptop. Do you use it as a router for internet connection? What do you use WLAN for? And btw., it takes about 3-5 minutes to hack a WEP protection, i read somewhere...

Perhaps your card/router etc. supports WPA protection? It shall be more safe, try this instead of WEP, if possible...

If someone else is accessing your system remotely (via the network), you can see what shares they may be attached to by bringing up computer managment and checking the shares on the machine. Here's how you do this:
1) Right click on "My Computer" and select "Manage". (If the "My Computer icon is not on your desktop, you can get the managment console by doing the following: click on Start, select run, and enter 'mmc' and press enter. When the Managment console has started, select 'file' and then 'Add/Remove Snap-in...', click the 'add' button, select 'Computer Managment', click 'add', click 'finish', click 'close', and finally click 'OK'.)
2) Expand 'Computer Managment' (click on the little plus in the left hand window)
3) Expand 'System Tools' and then 'Shared Folders'
4) Finally clock on 'sessions'. In the right hand window will be displayed anybody that is currently connected to a share on your machine.
If you never share information over a network, then you can solve this completely by disabling the "Server" service on the machine. Doing this makes it so that nobody can connect remotely to any file/printer shares on your machine (because with the service disabled they don't exist).
