Running 2k;
I thought I had some sites bookmarked that would tell you what a file was if you entered it in as a search. I couldn't find anything.

My friends' Laptop get a error message that it can't load RDB.sys. I or he doesn't know what that file is. The limited search I did didn't turn anything up. No idea what he was doing last.

Anyone know what RDB.sys is or have some sites where I can look it up?

Thanks

I thought I corrected the orginal post. He have me the wrong file name. Yes, it should of been rdbss.sys.

Before someone posts the M$ url, this Laptop already has sp4 installed so that KB article doesn't apply here. He checked to see if the file is there and it is.

I have the Laptop now and tried using MS Config with Diag. startup checked, but still nothing.

It's a 'stop' error screen after the ntoskrnl splash screen loads. "Unable to load device driver".

Do you have the means to transfer a copy of the file into the folder locations shown above?

I could upload a copy of my file to a hosting site for you to download.
You could download that to a floppy, and [provided you're not using NTFS partitions, are using FAT32] use "File Manager" on the EBCD to copy the file into place.

Or perhaps use "last known good configuration", or a "repair" reinstallation?
