interface board or cd rom not ready

Getting message : interface board or cd riom not ready. How do I fix this?
Message says abort or retry then computer freezes can't get to setup or anywhere else!!:confused:

Chances are that the drive is toast...

But, it is worth a check of the cables...reseat and/or replace.
