desktop/background

in windows xp, when i right click on desktop, go to properties, go to background, i cant pick an image from the scroll down list labeled "background" -- ie when i click on any of the options or the scroll bar, there is no response.
i think this problem first developed at the same time as i had a virus infection. (i have already used antivirus software to remove the virus).

any help is very appreciated.

You might try to Run a Full updated antivirus scan again, but this time after it is done, Turn OFF system restore, and restart your computer, then turn on system restore again and go back and see if background menu works now!
