Hello everybody!
Is there a way to remove components from the right-click menu in Windows XP? For instance I’d like to take out the Systweak File Encryptor option, without actually deleting the software itself. Thanks for your help and best wishes!

If there is a way of actually running the program without using the context menu option (desktop icon/start menu entry), then there is most likely to be a configuration option to enable/disable the context menu...so look through the preferences/options in the program first.

You probably need to edit the registry's HKCR\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers by deleting the relevant key. Back it up first and the usual warnings about the registry apply.

More elaborate details at: http://www.jfitz.com/tips/rclick_custom.html

Go mjc's way first by taking a close look at the options of the program itself or of any options during its installation. Its a much safer way to go.

Oh, so it’s called Context Menu, thanks guys! However, I deleted the registry key as instructed and I even tried a program that actually does that job for you, but the unwanted option still remains at the right-click menu.

I know it's obvious but have you tried rebooting?

Nah it didn’t work, but mjc was right I managed to remove it from the program’s settings. Thanks for your help!

By the way, I found a very good software that allows you to see all the items at your context menus i.e. folder, file and IE browser and edit or delete them. It’s called Browser Sentinel (http://www.browsersentinel.com/BrowserSentinel2Setup.exe) (trial version).
