I have a Asus A8N-E motherboard and an ATI all-in-wonder video card. When I turn the computer on, it beeps one long time and then two short times. As I have read this means that there is a video problem. The video card is not broken, it works perfectly fine with another machine, and there are no other defective cards in the PCI slots. Does Asus even support ATI?
Thanks in advance.

Maybe I need to put in a disk with the driver as I start the computer. I actually have a ATI Rage Theater, at least that's what it says on the card. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

What model ATI card?

How do I determine that? There is a "N625"; a "ati Rage Theater"; a "2000 ati technologies inc."; a "complies with Canadian ICES-003, class B"; and then too many words to write down. Thanks for you help!

Is that ATI card a PCI video card or is it a PCI video capture/TV tuner card?

If that is an AGP card how in the #@&! did you get it to fit in a PCI-E slot?

The Asus A8N-E motherboard (http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=15&l3=171&model=455&modelmenu=2) has a PCI-E X16 video card slot and can not use an AGP video card.

1 x PCI Express x16 slot <---For the video card
2x PCI Express x1
1x PCI Express x4 in a X16 slot(supports up to 1GB/s)
3 x PCI

Does Asus even support ATI?

Yes Asus supports ATI video cards. I have been using an Asus motherboard and ATI video cards for years. In fact I have an Asus P5WDG2-WS Pro motherboard and an ATI X1950XTX video card that was made by Asus and an ATI TV tuner card in this PC. In my other PC I have an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard and an ATI All-In-Wonder X800-XT video card.

It is definately a PCI card, not AGP. I think that it is a TV tuner card, it has video in and video out, but I could not use it for video capture. All I want to do with this card is use it for the monitor. It didn't work in the regular PCI slot, but are you saying that I should put it in one of the PCI Express slots?
Thanks so much for your help.

If it is a PCI TV tuner card it is not a video card it will not work without a PCI-E X16 video card installed. Your PC will not complete POST without a video card installed.

A PCI-E X16 video card must be installed in the long blue slot on your motherboard.

Do not try to put it in a PCI-E slot!

PCI and PCI-E are not compatible in any way!!!

BTW; what is the VGA cable from your monitor hooked up to?

I got a card for the pc ex16 and hooked it all up, it still doesn't work. I don't know what to do. The computer does that annoying beeping to indicate that there is a video problem. It might matter what type of video card it is though.

What do you have connected to the mobo right now? You've got a good mobo there, but what about your other components?

I FIXED IT! finally. I rearranged the RAM so that the modules were in the A1 and A2 channels instead of the A1 and B1 channels. I don't know why this worked, the motherboard manual says to put the RAM in the way I initially had it. That was the only problem. Thanks for your help!!
