My first computer, besides the Packard Bell, was an old IBM Aptiva, my parents gave it to me. I normally rely on IBM for making grand products, and haveing GREAT support. This however is not the case here... i have an IBM Aptiva 2139-E6U with mobo 20L2161. IBM support doesnt even have the 2139 family of computers listed, so i googled it, and got 1,000,000+ results for IBM 2139 FAMILY MEMORY!!!, and now i dont know were to get any info for it, heres the problem with the mobo

EVERYTHING=FUNCTIONAL(or atleast i think, last time i booted it up and the jumpers werent messed up was about a year ago.)
I messed with the jumpers, i guess i loved jumpers back in the day.
This thing isnt so old that it relys on jumpers for voltages and what not, it has the modern configuration, but i just dont know where they go, thats the thing.

IBM 2139-E6U SPECS:
Slot 1, Pentium II@400MHz
RAM-128Megs ram in 2 slots, 1 free(MAX supported-unknown)

Wow, it sure is difficult to find any specs on that thing! I did, however, determine that the max RAM for that system is 384MB, suggesting either a more modern Intel chipset for that system than I would have pegged it for, or a SiS/VIA-based chipset.

In any case, give us the chipset info and the jumper configurations.

i think it is an Intel SL2T5, i cant get the heatsink on it to pop off so i cant really tell, it has in black in white next to the chipset FW82443BX
SL2T5

i think i messed with the jumpers a while ago, so i dont know if they are configured right

Oh, so it is a more recent chipset! The i440BX was mostly used for Pentium III's. You don't usually see a PII paired with it. In which case, that mobo must only have 3 RAM slots.

Anyway, the i440BX was fairly straight-forward. It supported the 66MHz and 100MHz FSB's, and multipliers from 3.0x to 5.5x or higher, depending. If you can describe or illustrate the jumper blocks, we should be able to jumper it correctly, even without a manual.

What do you mean by Jumper Blocks???

They might contain some sort of information that would help
Other than that the only advice I can give is to blow it up!:D :D :D

Just like it sounds, it's a solid block of jumpers together. Like this (http://www.wmld.com/tech/goss-jumps-photo.jpg).

Somewhere on the mobo, there may also be silk-screened instructions, like this (http://www.gen-x-pc.com/images/mobo_3.jpg).

ok, i found exactly what you pictured, its right above the PCI slot, i just cant find a software that can capture images from video, if i could, i would upload it and show you. It says CN15 and then an outline of a white box surrounds it. is this what im looking for?

i just cant find a software that can capture images from video

Nope, that's not the one. That looks more like a serial port header. A jumper block looks a lot like that, except the CPU config block is most likely 3 pins wide, and it has jumpers already on it. The position of the jumpers is what configures the FSB and clock multiplier and VCore. If any jumpers are missing, the system will simply fail to POST.

Revival! Sorry, but i still have the board sitting around and its annoying, i want to know if i can get it to work XD

When i start it up fans spin, but no video is given out, the CPU's heatsink gets warm, but even without any RAM the computer doesnt give out any beeps. If such a jumper block does exist, the picture above HAS to be it because it is the only thing that looks like a jumper block, and the serial ports are soldiered directly on the mobo itself, so it isnt a serial port header... HELP! :)

You might want to look at:

IBM Aptiva Video Jumpers (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=BMOE-3Q8JAJ)

You also may want to call IBM Support 24X7 @ 1-800-426-7378

Without a manual you're sunk and the only thing I can find anywhere close is in Japanese (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.ibm.com/jp/domino04/pc/support/index.nsf/navigation%3Fopenform%26doctype%3DDownloadable%2Bf iles%26brand%3DAptiva%26family%3DAptiva%26machinet ype%3D2139&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=5&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3DIBM%2B2139%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfiref ox-a%26channel%3Ds%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26hs%3DtDM%26sa%3DG)

Ah-so, Grasshopper! :p
