Well hopefully you'll find some answers... until then I can tell you this:
Look on your keyboard to the RIGHT side of the SPACE BAR. You'll see the ALT key, the WINDOWS key, and then another key that should have a picture/symbol of a window with a cursor next to it (Arrow)
You can highlight your "My Computer" icon and press that key to bring down the drop down menu for any icon you have highlighted. See if that works. Hopefully with XP Pro you'll have a keyboard with that key in place.
*EDIT* I forgot to mention, if you have the "My Computer" icon on your desktop you can actually highlight it with the mouse and also press "ALT+ENTER" to display the properties window.

Here's the right-click context menu I get when I click on the "My Computer" icon on my desktop.
Notice it includes "Properties" in the menu.
This menu is constructed from settings retrieved from the registry.
If an item is missing from the menu it means some settings are missing from the registry.
There is no "My Computer" link included on my Win2000Pro "Start" menu.
Are you saying there is one on your Start menu?

See for yourself...
Thank you from a half a year later!!!
Although my right click access on my 'new' wireless mouse isn't working, (I won't go there either) you are the first 1st person to give me some hope of finding out how to access that information that one gets from right clicking!!!
I've become so accustomed to using it, that I feel really disarmed without that ability!!
Thank you again Sir. And as an added reason for thanking you, on looking at your profile, we share the same birth date of Mar. 16!!! I've got you beat on the year part though!! i.e., I've seen a lot more Mar. 16ths than you! :(
