Bought a new Antec Sonata II and the case cooling fan has a 4 pin 12v connection. Along with that there is also a three speed switch. I bought a seperate fan which has a three pin square connection in front of the 4 pin connector (Antec 120mm Smartcool). Would like the case fan to be on a speed control of the mobo.

Would I be better off to switch the fans and in doing so use the three pin square connection so the mobo can control the speed? Now along with that the Smatcool has its on thermo control. Is this going to conflict with the mobo?? Looking at the specs it looks like it should be no problem.

It shouldn't be a problem at all. In fact, the two will work quite well together.

OK thanks,,, will see as to how the new one performs here shortly. I did go ahead and swap the fans though. Will leave teh fan in front on low so it can move air across the HDDs and let the mobo control the one in back.

Again thanks!!
