I am looking at purchasing a laptop to be used for gaming, preferrably with a 15 inch screen. I know that i will use core 2 duo and get 2 gigs ddr2-667. The component that i am having trouble with is the graphics card. I keep seeing the ge force go 7600, and the ati mobility x1600 and also the x1400. Can someone tell me which of these is the better for a next generation games....or when are the DX10 laptop cards coming out?

I believe the D3D 10 parts will be available soon for the huge desktop replacements with upgradeable vid cards. But otherwise, it's going to be a waiting game for the "value" versions to trickle down. Besides, the high end GPU's/VPU's are ill-suited for laptops - way too hot, IMO. Not to mention they suck up power, so gaming-on-the-go is out of the question.
If you can manage the GeForce Go 7600 with plenty of dedicated RAM (128MB would be preferable) then that would be my first choice. The Mobility Radeon X1600 is decent enough, but it lacks raw power. The X1600 wouldn't be able to play the latest games at the native res of a 15" laptop LCD screen. Anything below these two would be pathetic for modern gaming.

So i configured an HP with a 2Ghz core 2 duo, 2Gigs ddr2-667, and a 512MB go 7600. Now, i know that HP isn't considered to be the best laptop manufacturer right now, but it seems like a good PC for $1800. I tried to find a comparable Acer, but their website is terribly slow...
