Given for granted that i do know that is better to upgrade the whole system i am trying to figure out if just a video card will do. My goal is to be able to run the NEW Flight Sim X from microsoft but with my current system is very choppy and unreliable wheras is very good with the previous FS version . Anyway, my question is, if i buy a very nice AGP videocard will i be able to run it well? how much is the videocard alone contributing to the smoothness in running this type of software and how much is the contributiion of the other parts? Currently i have an Athlon XP at 2Ghz, 512Mb ofDDR at 333Mhz, a mobo running at 333MHz FSB (ofcourse) and a 250Gb Sata and a MSI 4200Ti at 128Mb AGP4x
thank you

Depends on what kind of budget your on, an Athlon XP at 2GHz should do quite nicely for todays games, it would be a nice idea to upgrade your RAM to about 1 gig or 2. I personally would just buy a better AGP graphics card, and some more ram... Im sure a 256 Meg AGP 4x graphics card exists if a 256 Meg PCI one does so i recommend a new graphics card

ok, so i hate to break this to you but my system is a 3.0Ghz pentium 4 OC'ed to 3.2, 2Gigs of DDR2-667 and a PCI express 7600GS and on low-medium settings i get 4 fps. i think that this is partially due to a bottleneck in my processor, but even so, i don't think there is an AGP graphics card that can run that game like it should be...to run it im waiting for money to get a 8800 so i can see the D3D eye candy:p :p

so at the end do you think there is a system that is able to run FSX nicely? you make it sound like it's a videocard issue, is it? and what cpu bottleneck are you talking about?

Well i would do many things first. You said you were only running 512mb of ram. Which isnt much at all even with a graphics card and decent processor any game could be choppy. I would upgrade your ram. 1 to 2 gigs of ram should be sufficient. You could get a decent agp graphics card for about 100 dollars. http://www.tigerdirect.com
This is a really good place to get any computer part you need.
