hello again. my boss's computer says verifying pooll data.then says dick boot failure,insert system disk.the cd roms wont turn on.the computer has apentium3 600 mhz socket7 (66x9.0).what can we do to fix this. he was replacing a cd rom drive. everything worked fine until then.the memory is 12mb pc100 168 pin. o/s is win98. if you need more info i can get it. please help.

The first thing to look at.
Is the drive cables and drive jumpers, For Master and slave
If it worked before installing the new cd then look there first

Could use a little clairification. Did he replace a CD-ROM drive or add a second CD-ROM? If you are only using one of the CD-ROMs is it the old one you've connected up, or the new one?

Also, do you have the CD-ROM connected to the same cable as the HardDrive, or is it on it's own cable?

Is this system really running with 12MB of RAM?

Another odd thing, a Pentium 3 in a socket 7. Is this possible? Plenty of socket seven machines would have had 16MB RAM though.
