Hi,
I was playing around with my routers NAt and UpNp functions, maybe the DMZ thing too, and now i cant even access the router page. Any ideas how i can get back to it? Laos i downloaded the latest firmware to try a reinstall, but it comes as a file extension i am not familiar with and cannot run.
Ta.
Your router should be able to be reset to the factory defaults...which brand/model is it and we can help you find the correct reset procedure.
The firmware updates usually come as a .bin or .tar, which are not execuatble files. In order to upgrade you will need to go to a frimware management page in the web interface of the router and point it to where you saved the firmware on your local machine. It will then copy it over and do the upgrade.

the router is a belkin F5D7230-4. I clicked the reset button on the back of it many times but i still cant get to the page for the router.
You'll need to hold the reset button in for between 30 to 60 seconds, not just click it.

Reset depends on the router, most I have seen require you to hold down the button while you power it off and back on.

From the manual -
Restoring the Factory Defaults
Press and hold the “Reset” button for at least 10 seconds,
then release it. The lights on the Router will momentarily
flash. The Power/Ready light will begin to blink. When the
Power/Ready light becomes solid again, the restore
is complete.
I've found that with Belkin routers 30 or more seconds is often needed, no matter what the manual says..:(

My D-Link is like that. It says 10 seconds but I let it go for a lot longer because it doesn't always work if I don't.
