ok ive got 2 printers that are being shared on other computers...
I can connect to one and not the other. I see them both in my printer list, but the document to be printed just sits in the print queue on my computer until it times out. Ive downloaded/installed the drivers from epson.

I dont know how to trouble shoot this, any help?

Does the printer in question print on the computer that it is attached to?

What are the versions of Windows involved?

If you haven't tried this already...

Delete the printer from the system where you're having your trouble. Try reinstalling it again and see if that clears up the issue. Double check to make sure you are using the correct driver as well. I know certain epson model numbers are very close....

The wrong driver can cause all sorts of nonsense. Anyways, let us know how it goes. Good luck.

hi! ok i deleted the printer and then reinstalled it.. windows selected the driver and installed automatically so it has to be the right one no?. Still sitting in print queue until it times out. Like its not even communicating to the other computer at all. :(

About the print driver being selected automatically... You should actually download the driver from epson and install it on your pc. Try opening the file and see if the software runs and allows you to install it that way.

If the file opens and just does an install, you should go back to the "Add New Printer" wizard and this time choose to manually install the printer. Choose Epson from the list and find the correct model number of the one you have.

Sorry to make you repeat the same basics over again...lol but I should have been more clear with my explanation. :D

Thats ok! :)

Ok I deleted the epson driver previously, then i downloaded it from the website, went into 'add a printer' and manually added the driver. The port is recognizing the computer the printer is attached to and seems correct. But its still timing out in the print queue until I get an error. Its just not communicating.

This is going to sound a little dumb...but, have you checked (right click on the printer icon under Printers) to see if it is online or offline...

If both the machines are XP, try restarting the "print spooler" on both the machine you are trying to print from, and the one that actually has the printer attached.

Control panel> administrative tools> services> r-click on "print spooler" and click restart.

Occasionally I have similar problems with my printer being shared with several machines. Restarting the print spooler like this usually takes care of it.

If one of the machines is a MAC, sorry I don't have any idea how to do it on a MAC.

Is it a PC printing to a printer connected to a MAC or the other way around or two windows machines.
