Stay away from the MX version of the GeForce4. It's rated about the same as the GeForce2 MX board. Not much improvement, except maybe in 2nd generation T&L. Go have a read on them over at www.tomshardware.com (http://www.tomshardware.com)
Wait for the GF4 Ti versions. If you don't want to wait, your best choice would be a GF3 Ti 200 or 500.
I have always had good luck with Abit, Gainward, MSI and PNY.
Cheers.

I think the Gforce4 is a wait and see deal.
It’s just too new to check out all the brands .
Gainward makes some nice boards.
Asus is also good.

Hi T,
There not out yet over here, but i've seen the price for an asus 4600ti.
£395.00 that $560.00. Most comp parts are about 40% more expensive here.

I also did a little looking today for the new Geforce4
It’s not surprising that the only thing anyone had in stock was the OEM // EL-Cheap-O models.
Most were the MX versions. ($79 - $159 Models)
It also is to early to look for those Geforce3 Ti 5 models at reduced prices.
But I am also waiting Impatiently

Ok think I've come closer to a decision...lol
The 4600ti models are being sold but the only one that seems available is the Visiontek model Xtacy ...it seems cool but I have been checking out the Gainward brand and it seems better ...comes with heat sinks on the memory also and seems to be packaged with some video adapters and 3d glasses ...So im leaning towards the Gainward I just havent heard of them but I havent heard of visiontek either ...until I have been lookin into a video card..oh well ...decisions...decisions....lol

In my opinion, Gainward is the better of the two. Highly overclockable. Good cooling right out of the box.
Have fun.

I'm going to throw in my $.2 worth here and tell you to save your money and get a Geforce3 Ti200-there are barely any games that tax it yet, and nothing on the market that really needs the new G4 chipset.
I've got a PNY Ti500 & Ti200-and i'm pleased with both. As a matter of fact the 200 is exactly like the 500 in performance, but cost about half the price!
PNY uses heatsinks/fan-HS on it's boards-and so far i've not had a single issue with either ( i've got the 200 clocked up to the speed of the 500 and it runs just peachy stable http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif )
so save yourself some cash and still get awesome performance.

That's awesome, Thunda!
Email me so I can send you my address. You were going to send that 5500, right? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Have fun.
I got in a hurry the other day, didn't have wads of cash to spend, so bought an Abit Siluro GeForce3 Ti 200 AGP 64mb DDR. I was impressed with the cooling on the card. When I installed it, I also installed an 80mm fan on my Zalman bracket to blow directly onto the new vid card. I have been ever so slowly tweaking both the core and memory in 5Mhz increments, and watching my 3DMark scores climb with every tweak. Yee ha! I upgraded from a PNY Verto GeForce2 Ti with core/memory running at 250/400 stock! It's a very decent card and I'm planning on holding on to that puppy.
But seriously, for the right price, I'll take that Voodoo off your hands.
