The burner is not the problem....all of them can record just about any type of file there is. The software that is actually used to complete the burning process is what is important, and all of the major players in that field can burn mp3 files.

I use a LiteOn 16x10x32 burner with the latest release of Nero and have no problems at all with making audio CDs.

I like Nero also...it can do practically anything as far as advanced burning goes.

As far as CDRW drives, Plextor is supposedly the brand to buy. My iomega 12X10X32X is a rebadged Plextor and it works just fine. Although so did my memorex...

I agree it depends on the software.
Sometings I use NERO for others I use easy CD Creator 5 for.
I use plextor for my CD Writer.
I have had it over a year and no problems. There tech support has answered all my questions.

Basically, what it boils down to is that any IDE/ATAPI CD burner (and SCSI too, with a SCSI card) will work on a PC, but the software is what provides and determines exactly what capabilities are usable...

I've got a TDK VeloCD and am very happy with it. Use Nero to burn and it's very easy.
