Well, as many of you know I've always tried to acknowledge the efforts and expertise of our members from time to time, I'm well aware that a little encouragement and a pat on the back now and then goes a long way...But I've been slipping, and haven't done it recently. So...I thought I'd post a new topic for that purpose, rather than dropping a comment in here and there as I usually do.

This topic is to say thanks and well done to our many contributing members, new and old, for their superb assistance and support here on the forums. We have a great crew, one of the best on the Internet, and I certainly haven't forgotten that, even though I may not have said so in a while.

I won't try to list all the names, there's no way I could remember all of them, I'll just say all of you have done an excellent job and it is certainly appreciated.

In the past 1 1/2 years or so we have come from under 500 members when I first started to over 7500 now, and from myself and Ixl trying to field more questions than we could handle to an exceptional group of technicians that can handle just about anything.

We've had a few problems here and there, but in general it's done nothing but get better all the time. Some of the other regulars here have been with us almost long as I have, mjc, bassman, Ghost Hacker and Reid among others joined within a month or two of the time I did. (I think G_H had a different user name back then...) I don't think many forums can say they have people that have been around that long, especially people with the kind of knowledge and expertise some of our "old timers" have brought to the forums.

We also have some relative newcomers who have shown exceptional knowledge and expertise, I hope they will be with us for a long time to come. All in all, I think the folks here have done an exceptional job, and deserve more credit than a few words can offer.

Thanks to all the people who have made the PC Guide Discussion Forums one of the best and most well respected resources on the Internet...

As has been said look in the mirror and give your first vote of thanks to the person you see there. Without you and Charles, as well as all the others (old and new), this site would just be another run - of- the mill site. Since I first came here I have been given only the best of advice and help. No matter how stupid the question I (or anyone else) asks seems to be, the answers are always given with consideration, courtesy and patience. There have been times when things have seemed to be getting out of hand, but all of you are quick to stamp down on this type of behaviour. This is one of the main reasons that I continued to visit at first. And besides this is only human nature. All families fallout occasionaly. On every other PC forum(s) help site I have visited there has been an abundance of foul language and derisory remarks made to the beginner (and the old timers who make "learning" mistakes)(I can swear like a trooper and am no saint, but there is a time and place and mixed company (which we have here) and publicly on line is not the time or place)
So thank you for all the work and time you(all) put into this site.

Thanks for all the compliments, but you have all missed the point. Sure, I have to accept a little credit, but very little, all I do is run the place...

The idea was simply to let our group of exceptional helpers that they consistently do an excellent job, and let them know that I do notice it even though I haven't said so lately. This topic was intended to let everyone know that their efforts have not gone unnoticed, and that I think they usually handle most problems effectively and without a lot of the nonsense that is usually present on many other forums.

As far as myself, I try to keep the peace, and make sure it stays friendly, concise and our sense of humor stays intact. It took a while to establish the kind of atmosphere and attitude I was after, but once it got started it's basically self-perpetuating, I mostly have to worry about moving off topic posts, cutting profanity short and the like. So at this point the atmosphere of the forums mostly keeps itself going.

I simply wanted to let everyone know they are doing a great job, and I do notice it. I don't post many responses these days, I don't have a lot of time, just trying to keep up is enough...so I also haven't let everyone know in quite a while that I think they are doing an excellent job, and the occasional "pat on the back" is something I have always tried to do. So I posted one...it's simply an acknowledgement of everyone's efforts.

I don't need any acknowledgemnt or thanks as far as that goes, I get it every time I look through the forums and see the best people on the Internet still here, still posting excellent information, still being clear, concise and polite and still keeping their sense of humor intact. That's all the thanks I need...and I get it every night.

As one who has benefited from the generosity of time and knowledge given to this board by its members, I feel I must say a few words. I had a computer problem that I really thought was unsolvable and I had not much hope of really being able to do much as I had no experience. For five solid days at all hours of the day and night the members here stuck by me and helped me with whatever I needed and not once, not once was I ever made to feel inferior or stupid. My problem was solved; I have a working, running computer. My son would not have a computer now if not for this incredible place.

Being a new guy on the block, I hesitated to add my two cents, but I couldn't resist. I just "stumbled" on to this site and I couldn't be happier. From the very beginning, people have been very polite and incredibly knowledgeable. This is truly a forum unlike any I have seen before. I can't wait to learn more so I can help people the way they have helped me. (That's the "infectious" thing about this place!) and I just want to say: Thank you ALL http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hey Pete and others:

I am fairly new here - have learned a lot - and hopefully helped here and there

I MUST comment on the professional and mature way you, and fellow forum members, conduct yourselves.

I have visited some Forums that seem invaded by 25-30 year olds that seem to pride themselves on, and actually compete for, who can act the most immature.

New people coming here are treated with respect - that is very commendable

Gee, and here I just stumbled upon these forums out of pure dumb luck! I used to go on another forums site, but they "updated" it and would no longer work on my old system. Thus I was forums-less for about 2 years, until I came here.

It's a lot of fun here, and I (like many others I'm sure) enjoy learning - everything from a minor suggestion to someone telling me I'm flat out wrong! It's all good, so don't hold back.

Any chance these forums will still be around in 50 years, when I'm old and gray and wise enough to be listed with the likes of mjc, G_H, and all them? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif And just out of curiosity G_H, what was your old handle?

Hehe... saphalline...GH is guarding that secret....a few of us know though http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I've gathered egads of links to pc forums just in the time that I've been here...and none can compare to the people {admin, geek, funster or spectator} here.

Things I've learned here are invaluable and have assisted me in my job and personal pc experiences.... Toot Toot!!!

Another great aspect offered here...are the volunteers hanging out in the IRC channel for one on one help in real-time http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I don't spend nearly as much time posting here as I used to...but I am always lurking here and there http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Thanks to all that make this place a very nice place to prop up the feet or give the grey cells (or Google) a good work out!!!!

Here I am again, wanting to say thank you!! Had a problem with my modem and I did a search for the help I needed, rather than bother the gurus with a question I know had to have been answered and I found the help I needed and fixed my modem and am back online!! This is the most remarkable place I have ever been too. The archives are a great help in finding answers to questions like mine. The amount of time and effort put into this board by it's members shows! Thank you. LG ;)
