sudden disappearance of ebay & email accounts

My housemates email accounts with yahoo & hotmail + his ebay account have suddenly disappeared or log in details to all 3 are not recognised.He shared the same password with all 3 but different usernames.He has tried on 3 different computers but still cannot access any of them yet my accounts are ok.This has happened in last 24hrs and prob all 3 at same time.Could this be more sinister than just a virus?

Yes!

He should use the password recovery option at each location (on a known clean machine) and change them...faster than immediately.
