Ok, So if i were to build a computer (makes me nervous) then what all would you reccomend? Like i said, I'd like a pentium 4 (because they cool better than athlons) atleast 256 mb ram (preferably ddr or something on the faster side) a 20 gig hd (7200 rpm or maybe a 40 gig atleast 20) AGP 4X 64 mb video (not any HEAVY gaming but i do like that deer hunter series and i want it to run smooth) CDRW, lan, maybe 56k (dunno what my future internet will be right now im on adsl line) and atleast a 17" monitor (although i wouldn't mind a flat panel) anywayz... i think u got the basic idea.... just a nice computer similar to that dell that posted in the other topic. I'd like to actually go under $1K (to save money) so if you could reccomend a SPECIFIC motherboard and other specific components i'd sure appreciate it. i'll have "the build the computer together talk" with my dad today on our 3 hr drive... thanks guyz!

Well...for starters, the difference in price between a 20GB and a 40GB drive is not all that great, so go for the 40, I just picked up one for under $100 (40GB WD, 7200RPM).

The GeForce3 series has dropped alot in price so that would be a good place to look. Now sticking to the P4 platform you may end up in a little bit of a price crunch...the best performance in the P4 is with RDRAM, which is much more expensive.

I am kind of partial to the LiteOn CDRW because for the price it is a very nice unit (a 32x10x40 burner for under $100)

I'm a bit partial to the Toshiba combo drive...you can always add another CD-ROM drive later if you so desire. I kinda like the DVD! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

The above specs is an example of something I was considering to buy from them (my final specs look different, but I don't feel like typing them out).
