Hi evryone ...
Does anybody know of a good computer store web site that has a decent supply of "usable cables" ? Why do they sell 24" & 36" IDE/ATA cables? Do people actually use them? Are they building refrigerator sized PC's these days? (I thought we got away from that years ago).
How about "round cables"? Anyone thats used them .. do you like them? Do they work OK?
Thanks

Not everyone is using Mini towers.
It’s easier and cheaper in the end for manufactures to supply cables that are too long then too short with their products

I have two full sized Towers that Require those Nice Long Cables

And on another note; round cables are neat-and seem to help the airflow inside the case.

So yes, i'd recommend them.

Have you ever had any problems with your nice long cables? Data loss , interference , unexplained lockups , etc .. ?

Nope..
To Date I haven’t had any problems with scsi or ide cables because of length.
My Server Tower stands two feet tall.
With the ide connector on the very bottom of the Mother board and the scsi card in slot 5
I need all the length I can Get.

I should add that In a few cases
I have replaced the manufactures supplied cables with longer ones
I don’t skimp on them.
I get only the best available ..

It’s also a good idea to inspect the supplied cables.
Depending on who and where they came from .
You can get some low quality cable.

Ref cables: When you say, "I don't skimp on them , I get only the best available" , that's the kind of info I'm looking for.
What ARE the best available ?

Storm:
I'm not in the habit of selling things, but I have 3 brand new rounded IDE cables, still in plastic. Two are 18" with 2 connectors, and the other is 9" single for floppy. They're bright, shocking yellow. I bought them here:
http://www.so-trickcomputers.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=S&Category_Code=C
for $22 plus $7 shipping. You can have them delivered for $15. If you or anyone else is interested, let me know.
