hi
the power got turned off when a new light was being fitted today and I'm not sure if my PC was on or in standby or what but when the power came back on the speakers were going crazy and the fan was going on the power supply.
However it wasn't even starting to boot up just flashing the caps lock, num lock ... lights. I turned off the power at the plug for about an hour and when I switched it back on and tried to boot the same thing happened, so I cant even get to the bios let alone boot from my windows disk or Linux LiveCD.
Any sujestions where to start?

I guess I can take the hard disk to my old win 98SE PC and back up stuff but there's not that much of importance on there I just want it up and running again.

Thanks for any help,
Andy

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif!

Before we get started, can you post your system specs?

If you look inside the PC, is the CPU Heatsink fan rotating at all? What about the case fans? What kind of beeps are heard?

my li'l bro' just got in and sed it happened befor when he unpluged the PC to move it and just to turn the speakers off and leave it 4 a while. After about half an hour it was fine.
Goodness knows what the problem was.
