Thank-You

Try AVG, and if that doesnt work, its probably nothing to worry about, is it effecting your system in any way?

i am on a network and for some strange reason im the only one losing connection..I believe that the malware has something to do with it. i will try avg....If that doesnt work should i leave it alone or should i reformat...But when the system alert thing comes up it says that it might slow down my cpu speed...

Eric,
AVG is not a cure-all. Sufferwell, you should know this by now.

But Eric, then reports of your having a problem, if done by rogue programs, can be false alarms as well. Just begin here with posting a HijackThis (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.php) report and go from there, 1 step at a time.

Heck, XP is pi$$ed off because I have auto updates turned off, so who or what has made your taskbar to alert you should be explained in more detail.

Ok, are you on a wireless network? and if so, it is probably just the router. I would ignore those messages, my Windows XP computer is constantly flooded with UPGRADE TO MCAFEE ANTIVIRUS AND PROTECT YOUR COMPUTER TODAY!!!

I have a linksys wireless router and the same happens to me alot, what I do to restore the connection is unplug the router, wait 30 secs to one min, plug it back in, and see if the problem is fixed, it normally works, and if it doesnt, i need to power cycle the modem itself, I have a Linksys router though, but the same senario might be happening with your router as well...

just wondering if anyone has looked at my log to see if there is anything wrong.

I just moved the thread to Applications & Security to get eyes on your log.

Budfred

I just saw this here... For future reference, a more descriptive title would have helped... Thanks for moving it PrntRhd...

You have signs of infections that are at least partly healed... Before you begin to do any fixes, please move HJT to a permanent folder so backups are not accidentally deleted...

Please open a HJT scan and put checks by:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {5d4831e0-5a7c-4a46-afd5-a79ab8ce36c2} - (no file)

Then close all open windows except HJT and press Fix checked...

Run a couple of scans to see if anything else is lingering...

* Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe

Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found: http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/check.gif
If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/move.gif
This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
Close Dr.Web Cureit.
Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply.

And AVG Antispyware (Ewido)...

Please download, install, and update Ewido anti-spyware (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/)

Load Ewido and then click the Update tab at the top. Under Manual Update click Start update.

After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")

Close ewido. Do not run it yet.

Please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. To boot into Safe Mode, please restart your computer. Tap F8 before Windows loads. Select Safe Mode on the screen that appears.

In Safe Mode, load Ewido and click on the Scanner tab at the top. Click the "Settings" tab and then change the recommended action to Quarantine and click Automatically generate report after every scan. Click back to the "Scan" tab and then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run, so be prepared.

Ewido will list any infections found on the left hand side. When the scan has finished, it will automatically set the recommended action. Click the Apply all actions button. Ewido will display "All actions have been applied" on the right hand side.

Click on "Save Report", then "Save Report As". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again (like on the Desktop).

Restart back into Normal Mode.

Please perform another scan with Hijack This, and then post back with a copy of the Ewido log and the new HijackThis log.

Post the DrWeb scan as well...
