i bought a new HD then installed it on my pc because my old HD got toast. the pc was not running for a month or two already. basic specs: motherboard:P4 Celeron 1.7ghz/ram:256mb/hd:40gb/internal modem/built-in A/V 32mb shared/CD-ROM drive combo. The computer doesnt startup even the whirring sound of the fan it doesnt start up. Reseated the memory modules. Bought new power supply with a new casing. Motherboard transferred from the old casing to the new one. Followed the documentation of the mainboard regarding its connections/jumpers. Installed the new HD. Installed the newer CD-ROM combo drive. Still NO POWER! I am now planning to buy new motherboard but before I would do that I wanted to be sure that this motherboard is now useless. :( Please need help badly. Budgets doesnt come around faster...thank you!

Also, do you know what power supply came with the case?? It is not unusual for the vendor to throw a cheap one in to a case and for it to be dead on arrival...

thanks for that reply, that was instant! one more thing though, recently, i found out that the male pins of the monitor got 3 pins lacking. maybe, it got lost on the way in... does the monitor still work that way or its one problem that realy affects the whole? thanks a lot!!!:)

The missing monitor pins are usually that way deliberately.

well, I forgot the name of that power supply that came with the new case, budfrt, but I think it was a 300v power supply?!?!...the vendor said that it was already tested when I bought it, though I never did saw it work when the vendor tested it with their own pc. I guess, next time I must be careful to know and see it when they test a new component right then and there huh. So as to save time going back.:)

300 watt is pretty small by today's standards, but the size isn't as important as the quality... If it is extremely light, it is likely to be a piece of garbage... Weight is not a reliable measure, but it can give you an idea of quality...
