Hey there everyone,

I've been getting my computers custom built for a while now, but this is my first attempt to do it myself...

So far I've got everything down pat just fine besides the topic of RAM Compatibility.

Now from what I understand the only thing you have to worry about is that the RAM is compatible with the other working chip. But I also heard someone say that the compatibility is with the motherboard as well as with the other working RAM chip as well...

Just looking to get this cleared up before I go out and buy the RAM I was wanting to install into my new system...

Thanks for any help that can be given...

Easiest thing is to use the Crucial.com or Kingston memory configurators.
www.crucial.com You can use Crucial's system scanner or manually find the specs by mfg/mainboard.
They can detect the specs on your current RAM online with the System Scan and recommend guaranteed compatible RAM and tell you the max your system allows.
Mixing RAM may work but will always run at the speed of the slowest RAM.

What are your system specs? Mobo model, CPU?
