I am looking into buying a new pc, and I found this one at best buy, for $1100(including tax) I can get this tower, a printer, and a 19" HD widescreen monitor. I just wanna know if its worth it.

I do some gaming, thats the reason I want a new rig, and the one I currently have is just very old school. I need a PC that should run World of Warcraft, and just some newer games really that may come out. I dont really play any top of the line shooters and such like Half Life 2, so I dont need to take it to the max.

I noticed it claims to have duo core processors, but it says the processor speed is 1.8ghz, that seems kinda low compared to the others Im looking at that are 2.0 and above. How will this fair in gaming and such?

Thanks to anyone who can help me out, Im trying to figure it out quickly, because the sale ends tomorrow.

Again thanks,

-Allen

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif

Which one are you looking at? Please post a direct link.

If you're into gaming, then an off-the-shelf PC might not be the best idea. Many of the OEM manufacturers make computers that are difficult to upgrade, and generally are not gaming friendly. You could probably do better building your own, or have one custom built at a shop or online.

You'll want at least an Athlon64 X2 3800+, or Core2 E6300 with at least 1GB of DDR2 RAM. For a video card, you'll need at least an nVidia GeForce 7600GT. Other less-important components are the hard drive, DVD-RW drive, [floppy]. You also mention that you need a monitor.

What are your current computer specs?

Um...It's still not there. But in anycase, i agree with Azzey about the memory and the processor, but I think you could get away with a 7600GS or even a 6800 ultra.

The link works for me, I think. This is what it links to: "Gateway Media Center Desktop with Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6300 - Model: GM5260". Is that the machine he's talking about?

Ah I see he replaced the first link....

anyway I think that would be just fine for what you need really....

The only thing that could pose a problem is; NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE graphics with TurboCache technology but it is in a PCI-E X16 slot so it can be upgraded if needed.
