A better question would be to ask those of us with XP machines what motherboards we use http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif! It usually comes down to the chipset, tho. VIA's KT266A and KT333 are among the very best, with the... unusual NVidia NForce coming up behind it, then there's the SiS 745 and 745S as the black sheep, and the ALi MAGiK 1 C version sitting quietly in the background.

XP mobos that have gotten good reviews: IWill XP333, Gigabyte GA-7DX+, Abit KR7A-133, MSI K7T266 Pro2 and KT3 Ultra-ARU (USB 2.0 ports built-in!). Personally, I have an Asus A7V266-E and yes I am currently only running a T-bird 1.2GHz but I wanted the extra headroom of upgrading to an XP sometime in the next year (which should boost my CPU power by at least 50%!).

What do all you other Athlon/XP users have for a mobo?

I currently have the A7M266. Yes, I know it is a hybrid board(AMD/VIA chipset), yes it only has two DDR slots, but it is still a good board. Also, for someone who isn't too picky about sound the onboard c-media is pretty good.

Until just very recently, the SIS735 chipset smoked every body-especially VIA, and even AMD's set.

I use the K7S5A board, and i'm quite happy with it-run XP pro, DDR266 just peachy.

And it didn't cost an arm and a leg-it was also the easiest board i've ever set up in years. Not a single conflict with anything.

Always had issues with Via, tho i may go with their new QuadDDR boards when they come out.

Abit KG7 with Thunderbird 1.2 GHz and it works fine and usable with XP chips.
