View Full Version : Modem for WinXP
Can anyone recommend a Fax/data/voice modem that works 100% with
WinXP?
I have tried a couple (internal) and they work, except for the
fax which doesn't complete.
And where I can get one in UK.
I have the list of modems from the Microsoft site that work with XP, but it's finding the correct model. I wondered if anyone had one working, the fax is important, and could recommend one.
Thank you,
Ted
Instead of replacing a working Modem.
Why not install a Good Fax program and Not rely on the XP fax applet.
I prefer WinFax pro From Symantec
I have yet to have a single problem with this program under Windows 95,98, or XP
Hi, thanks for your reply.
I've tried a couple of fax progs, including WinFax, and everything works fine, intenet, voice, etc. until I try the fax. It dials out okay then stops when it "handshakes" withs the remote fax machine. Incoming faxes are the same...handshake, then nothing....
What modem do you use with XP?

I can tell you that my modem PCTel HSP MicroModem 56 software modem
el cheapo compaq works fine in winXP Pro, and I have used the native fax console without any problems whatsoever, in fact I like it, it is simple and it works.
I didn't have to configure anything, just made sure it was set to auto or manual in Services for it to work.

Like Sea I had no extra settings to make in XP for the fax to work.
Once the modem was installed it work from the start.
Have you used the Modem diagnostics ?
More Info option with your modem?
