I thought the whole point of the original breakup was to...yeah, whatever...I give it another ten years or so and MaBell will be reborn, except name something like Verizi-Bell

This makes 50% of the original ATT morphed into the "new", less-regulated ATT.
:p
Yeah, and Verizon is most of the rest...

Bring back the old Ma Bell monopoly, pre 1984?, those were the days. You want phone service, er, you can have Bell System or Bell System:D Being a former Ma Bell employee in New England I can comment.
AT&T used to be the Ma Bell capo de tuti capi of all the Bell Companies, when they called and said jump you were supposed to say how high, oh how the mighty have fallen, although they seem to be regrouping again.

I just called and switched my dsl to AT&T Express for $19.99 a month. It was $34.99. While I was there I got my long distance switched to AT&T for $2 a month.
AT&T Express is supposed to be 1.5 MBps down. Thats all I need.
