Hi there.

How do you kill the ADSL ability of a box running XP SP2, but still allow the box to share files on the home network?

I want to be able to share files from the XP box to other computers on the home network, but I also want to refuse the machine a connection to the internet via the ADSL modem...

How do you do this?

Currently, the box connects to the ADSL automatically, obtaining it's IP address from the ADSL modem, however, I now wish to prevent the access to the ADSL.

Little help?

You would need to configure the modem (assuming it's also a router) to block any outgoing requests from the IP of the machine you don't want to have a connection from

Another option is to do a manuallly asigned IP address on that PC. Just give it an IP address in the same subnet, but no default gateway, it won't be able to communicate with anything not on the LAN.
