Hi, I have an ECS KT-600A and a Thoroughbred XP2200+, and 1GB Corsair ValueSelect VS512MB400 PC3200 RAM. I read the sticky, tried everything there, no beeps whatsoever. I know the PC speaker works because the last time this machine booted it gave me the single beep to let me know everything was ok.

NOTE: This is a friend's PC, not mine, he was letting me borrow it while I wait for an RMA from Seagate.

The last time I tried to boot this PC (before this problem occurred) here is what happened that makes me think that nothing died.

He has an XP 2200+ but it was only registering at 1.35GHz, so I messed with the FSB options in the BIOS and got it to a stable clock of 1.64GHz (at 122MHz FSB). Then I realized that I had another processor that I needed to test anyways (an Athlon XP 2500+ Barton), so since this was a working MB I stuck it in there (after verifying in the manual that the board would take that proc). I got this problem, so I cleared CMOS and tried again. Then I changed the FSB jumper to 166 (from 100), remembering that the last mobo this proc was in needed to be at 166 to recognize it. Still nothing, so I put the original CPU back in there, reset CMOS again, and reset the FSB jumper to 100, and booted the machine (successfully). It was late by that point so I turned the machine off and went to bed. Next morning I came back and for no (apparent) reason I am getting the no beep no video.. I looked around on the web and double checked the fsb jumper (which I now realize should have been set to 133 in the first place, but was never there), and cant figure this thing out!

Please help me fix this thing so I dont have to tell him I killed his machine!

Remove the RAM and try to boot. If there's a beep, your good to that point. If not, reseat things, making sure they are well seated. Doublecheck the recommended jumper configurations, and try it just as you got it as well. Heatsink compound good? Fans run? Try barebones boot

I had an Athlon 1800 that was supposed to work with a mobo I have and could never get it to work on that board even after changing the fsb jumper. Could not get it to boot, no beep, no video. Another mobo found it's way to me and the CPU in it was DOA. I put that Athlon in it and it worked fine but would only run as a 1400 (limited proprietary BIOS). I figured that was better than nothing so I left it as such :p Put the original Duron 850 back in the original one, moved the jumper back to 100fsb and it worked fine.

Hopefully you'll get the right combo back too.

Guess I forgot to mention that in the morning when I tried to boot, the POST showed up but the video cut out not even 5 seconds into the POST, and I havent gotten anything since.

I did try what was mentioned above and got no RAM beep (nothing whatsoever) with just CPU and HS/F.

I dunno what else to try..
