I have 2 PC's on my network. The one with the problem is wired to my wireless router/hub (Westell VersaLink 327W). When I boot everything is fine, and I could surf the net all day. When I walk away for say ~30 min or so and come back I don't have an internet connection. I try to repair in windows, and disable my Mcafee firewall and don't have any luck. After messing with it for ~5 min or so, and hitting refresh in IE 100 times it will come back. The other PC on the network that is wireless doesn't have this problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

It seems your connection dies after being idle for a certain amount of time, and Linksys routers arent always so heavenly :D

Whenever that occurs, try unpluging the router and waiting 30 secs-1min and plug it back in, see if your connection is restored

I wonder if it is not a Windows sleep setting or hard drives getting turned off and it just takes a while for things to get back up and running. I have never heard of a router having issues at idle. Just because you are not surfing does not mean traffic isn't passing between the machine and the router constantly. Communication protocols are constantly passing between any device on the network.
I would look at the computer settings first.

Right click the desktop, click Properties, Screen Saver and the Power button.

Yea I don't think it's a router problem because it doesn't happen to the other PC on the network going through that router. I'll try the sleep settings in windows and let you guys know.

Thanks for the replies.

I've checked the sleep and Hibernate settings. The HD's never shut off and it won't go into hibernation. I'm lost. I just ate dinner and in that time I lost the connection again.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

System Standby is never as well? The other issue may be some type of security software stepping in. You could look in Event Viewer under Application/system log for any events that happen about the time you lose connection. If you see an Application or System event it may help find the issue.
