Good day, everyone!

Yesterday I encountered a problem with my computer, the computer shutdown itself suddenly and I smelled some burning. Then I turned on again and it working perfectly. So...this morning I woke up and tired to turn on my computer, and it wasn't turning on at all. No fans, no beeping sound and no light was on.

The power supply I'm using right now came with my tower case. It was a Sunbeam Case with ATX 450W Silent Power Supply. The plug from the Power supply didn't fit to the motherboard perfectly, it was missing 2 slots/columns.
I have been dualing two monitors lately, my guess is that could the power supply failed because it wasn't able to handle dualing two monitors.

Also, if the power supply did failed would it corrupt/affect my motherboard?

Thanks in advance!

The monitors have their own power supplies, they dont affect the strain on the system, though the Video Card might be strained with dual monitors.

Just a suggestion: DONT RESTART THE COMPUTER IF YOU SMELL SMOKE. Worse case scenario, the whole house ends up in flames, seriously.

No, a failed power supply normally will not affect the motherboard, replace it with an Antec power supply, preferably one with more watts.

Antec 550 Watt (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103941) for some extra power, a little pricey, but it will last, Antec is quality when it comes to PSU's.

Thanks for the suggestion, SufferWell!

So does that mean my video card is in jeopardy?

just out of curiosity...why shouldn't i restart my computer if i smell smoke?
well...i didn't exactly restart my computer, i just shut it off.

Acutally i bought a Rosewill 550watt since its cheaper by $30!

Thanks again :D

...but i'm just wondering if it will corrupt/affect my video card. :mad:Does your video card have one of the optional power plugs from the Power Supply?
